I have begun a class in Photoshop and now am wondering if the knowledge I gain will be advantageous as an editorial photgrapher.
Should I just leave the editing to the editors?
What will I gain that will be useful?

Processing your images is every bit as important as taking them. You'll take better images if you understand what can and cannot be done with them after the fact.

You cannot count on someone else always doing it for you. If you don't know how to deal with them in Photoshop you're going to always be at a disadvantage.
